Fast Food workers in 7 cities are striking for higher wages. They want $15 dollars an hour. They will tell you they only make $7.25, minimum wage, but statistics show the average fast food worker makes nearly $10 an hour. It seems ridiculous to me that these workers are screaming for employers to double their salary. They should be happy they have a job. Especially in cities like Detroit and Flint Michigan. Two cities with economies that are in the tank.
Here are the facts they employees don’t what you to know:
- 2/3 of all fast food workers only work part time.
- Half of all minimum wage workers are under 25 years old.
- 33% don’t even have a high school diploma.
- Only 10% even attended college much less finished it.
They say they deserve higher wages, yet they eagerly accepted the job and there are many other workers willing to take their place if they leave. That is called free markets at work. In the great Eddie Murphy movie, Coming to America, Louie Anderson’s character sums up what it takes to make more money. Fast food workers should listen to his advice.
