National Security

The main responsibility of our federal government is to protect our sovereignty by providing for a strong national defense.  It is imperative that we maintain the most proficient and capable fighting force in the world.

Our country is taking a poor approach towards national security and has put our future at risk. President Obama and his administration have ordered drastic cuts to our defensive capabilities—including massive troop reductions, cancelled vital programs, and stalled or cancelled upcoming contracts to build new ships and aircraft. Not only does this strategically weaken our forces, but it also kills hundreds of thousands of jobs attached to those programs and their corresponding infrastructure. We must remain invested in our military.

Constitutional Authority

All military action must be authorized by the means outlined in the Constitution. President Obama’s disregard for Congressional approval is unacceptable, and must never be allowed to happen again. Our men and women in uniform are a precious resource and must only be utilized when absolutely necessary. Congress must approve military action.

Securing Our Border

Our national security begins at home. Securing our southern border means stopping illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human smuggling. I will support the necessary steps to ensure our southern border is defended adequately; I support the installation of a border fence.

It is also important to remember that several of the 9/11 hijackers were in the U.S. on expired visas. According to the GAO (Government Accountability Office), almost half of the undocumented immigrants in the U.S. may be those who have overstayed their visas. This means 4-5 million people are living in the country undocumented.  The Department of Homeland Security clearly cannot keep up, and our country’s national security is at risk. This situation needs to be addressed immediately. With today’s advanced technology, there is no reason why the U.S. government should allow those with expired visas to continue to break the law.

My opponent, Kenny Marchant, received an F rating from NumbersUSA for his response to illegal visas!

Standing With Our Allies

We must uphold our promises to our friends around the world. It is vital that we maintain the relationships that help keep the American people safe. This is especially true with the nation of Israel.

Israel is the only functioning democracy in the Middle East and a strong supporter of our interests. They serve as a beacon of the human ingenuity; turning a land with few resources into a prosperous, free-market country. Their ideals match ours, and their friendship is a valuable resource.

Foreign Threats

We must have a strong defense against foreign states and governments, such as Iran, that support international terrorism. Iran supports terrorist organizations such as Hezbolla and Hamas are terror groups that have been found operating on our southern border and throughout Central and South America. They are an imminent threat to our national and economic security, and must be treated as such. Diplomatic and economic sanctions against its government need to be strengthened. Their nuclear program must be terminated.

We must also keep a watchful eye on the ever growing and expanding cyber threats that could have the potential to wreak havoc on our nation’s military and civilian infrastructure. We now live in a day where the greatest threat to our country may be in our email inbox, not just the rogue nation with nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons.

Our vigilance must be ongoing.

We Must Protect American Liberty

It is possible to maintain a safe nation without impeding on our personal liberty. I intend to fight any law that forces American citizens to give up their individual liberties. Our federal government has no right to remove these rights without just cause. Our individual liberty is paramount to the success of our Constitutional Republic.
